How we work

We book.
We don’t
operate.

Techiya Travel is registered with the Namibia Tourism Board as a Booking Agent - registration BOO01119, effective 12 April 2021. That is a specific thing, and it is worth understanding before you send us money.

What that means

We are not the people who run the lodge.

The Gondwana Collection and Wilderness own the properties, employ the guides, drive the vehicles and carry the operating licences. They are very good at it. We do not duplicate any of that, and we do not pretend to.

What we are

We are the people who decide which one you go to.

Which lodge suits a family with a seven-year-old. Which camp will not take that seven-year-old at all. Which route is four hours of gravel you will regret. Which property is worth the money in June and is not in December. That judgement is the product.

The process

Start to finish.

No online payment and no live availability widget. Ready-made packages carry the supplier's published price; everything is confirmed by a person against real availability, which is slower than a booking engine and considerably more useful.

  1. 1
    You enquire.

Dates and how firm they are, how many adults, how many children and their ages, a budget range, and whether you want to drive. We ask for the ages because they are the single most common reason an itinerary has to be rebuilt - several camps will not take young children.

  2. 2
    We check real availability.

We hold trade accounts with both suppliers. We check what is genuinely open on your dates, not what a cached search result says. If your first choice is gone, we will say so on the first reply rather than the fourth.

  3. 3
You get an itinerary and a total.

Written out property by property, night by night, with what is included at each one - because "fully inclusive" at a Wilderness camp and "bed and breakfast" at a Gondwana lodge are very different propositions, and the difference shows up at checkout.

  4. 4
You pay us, and we settle with the suppliers.

A deposit confirms the booking; the balance is due before travel. One invoice from Techiya Travel CC regardless of how many properties the trip touches. We are registered for VAT (10388654-011) and the invoice shows it.

  5. 5
We send documents, and stay reachable.

Vouchers, directions, driving times, gate closing times, and what to do if something goes wrong. On Wilderness bookings a Guest Experience Liaison is assigned before travel and the meet-and-greet at the airport carries our name, not a stranger's.

  6. 6
You travel. We are still here.

Namibian office hours, Namibian phone number, and a person who already knows your itinerary. That is the part that is difficult to get from a booking site.

Fair warning

When we are
the wrong choice.

Because an agent who claims to suit everybody is not being straight with you.

  1. -
You want to book tonight and travel tomorrow.

We are not an instant-booking engine. If you need a room in the next 24 hours, book direct.

  2. -
You want the cheapest bed in Namibia and nothing else.

Then a comparison site will serve you better. We add judgement, and judgement is not free.

  3. -
You want a property neither supplier works with.

We book Gondwana and Wilderness. If your trip depends on something outside that, we will tell you straight away rather than string you along.

Enquiry

Every path ends here.

One form. Tell us the shape of the trip and we will come back with what is actually available, what it costs, and what we would change about it.

No payment is taken here. Package prices on this site are the suppliers' published rates; we confirm the exact figure against live availability when we quote.
